it gives you this inferiority complex - not good enough, something else is better than you, pining for someone you can never have, wishing that things could be the way they were, etc etc etc.
pathetic.
you have a few who never feel this way. be dumped, and move on. sure they'll hurt, but is it just a cover?
then you have the rest of us who wait and hope (for nothing in return) in such a pathetic state - being hurt from that one person who meant everything to you - and never being able to move on, or putting on a happy front when in actual fact you're sad.
it's not that im naive.
it's just how it is. and im pretty sure im not the only one.
as much as you want to move on, there's all that love and memories that make it hard - and with such subtlety, gets ingrained into your being.
you think about the ex so much less, but when you do, it's like this constant
"what did i do? what could i have done? why didnt i see the signs? was it then that she started feeling different?" or "who's she with? is she kissing/making love with that person? is that person any better than me?"
*shudders at thought and wishes that person was me*
hmm.. the fantasy of the improbable stinks.
