in my several semesters of media studies, it was put to us that it's very hard to judge emotion/true meaning via virtual spaces.
i.e. smses/msn chats/smiley faces are hard to decipher - double meanings and whatnots.
however, iv just found out that it is absolutely possible to have a full on fight through these mediums. complete with verbal accusations, expletives, sarcasm and what have you.
statements that fill you with guilt.
one liners that make you cry.
paragraphs that render your complete and utter uselessness.
not forgetting a punch in your ego.
the wonders of online communication.
compressed space and time. allowing people from either ends of the world to communicate as though they were just next door.
in all it's glory, it can hurt.
